This is Ken Haller, and your words have brought up so many feelings I've had over the years as I've pondered of my straight, white, male, Christian, etc., friends, neighbors, colleagues: "Has it ever occurred to you to wonder what it's like to be The Other?" While I have chosen a profession, Medicine, that gives me enormous societal power, I have at least tried to avoid assimilation and to be fully myself in a world that has not often rewarded that. And if I've succeeded, it's not so much from a sense of nobility as from a profound discomfort with "wearing someone else's clothes." Finally, I cannot underestimate the importance of having you as my Obi-Wan Kemobi, my Jimmy Cricket to help me find my true way in the wilderness. As always, thank you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194405035624163878.post-29733360981064124492022-06-03T11:19:27.025-05:002022-06-03T11:19:27.025-05:00Joseph, Thank you for posting this. Yet as it stirred no immediate words came to mind, but more so an enveloping feeling. A feeling of lost, a feeling a being found, a feeling of misunderstanding, a feeling of loneliness, a feeling of serenity.I found myself in a whirlwind of emotions sitting very near the edge of oblivion. I am in the midst of the 'wilderness' as I listen, my ears are sometimes 'plugged' other times 'overly sensitive to sound'. Something is stirring in my soul, but I am not afraid.Edna Patterson-Pettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17219727178823115879noreply@blogger.com
